Peer Review Policy

How manuscripts are assessed.

Every manuscript is first checked by the editorial office for completeness and scope. Suitable manuscripts are assigned to a handling editor, who invites independent experts to review.

Review model

Review model to be confirmed (the platform currently runs double-blind review). Under double-blind review, reviewers receive an anonymised manuscript without the title page, and authors do not learn reviewer identities.

Limits of anonymisation: the platform keeps author names and the title page away from reviewers and strips identities from correspondence, but it cannot remove identifying details written inside uploaded files (e.g. self-citations, acknowledgements or document properties). Authors are responsible for anonymising their manuscript file.

Decisions

Editors normally seek at least two independent reviews. Possible decisions are accept, minor revision, major revision, revise and resubmit, or reject. Decision letters include reviewers' comments to the authors; confidential comments to the editor are never shared.

Timelines

Reviewers are asked to respond to invitations within 7 days and to submit reports within 21 days. These defaults are configurable.
